Pickford keen to cement new England goalkeeping coaching role

Pickford is now the joint-fourth all-time appearance-maker for the Three Lions, with Gordon Banks on 73, and should he get another chance in Friday’s friendly against Albania (March 21), he will be behind only David Seaman, Joe Hart and Peter Shilton.

“My motivation has never been to chase the England team,” he said at his daily press conference. 

“The bigger thing is to find the best goalkeeper you can be because if you can do that, then 100 caps for England is not too far off if you have done well for both club and country.”

“I always want to learn. Every coach I’ve worked with has their own ideas.”
